About TRZN Watch

TRZN Watch is an independent research resource. We check the addresses of Tor-based services, write down what we find, and publish plain-language guides to Tor, PGP, and everyday digital privacy. The site exists to be a reference, not a front desk for anyone.

Independent means what it says here. We do not run, represent, or earn anything from the services we write about. Nobody pays us for placement, and no page on this site speaks on another organisation's behalf. When we get something wrong, we correct it and say so.

Everything we publish rests on three kinds of source, in this order of preference:

• Primary technical sources. The specifications and documentation written by the people who build the tools — the Tor Project for the network itself, the GnuPG project for signature checking. When we explain how something works, it traces back to them, not to hearsay.
• Our own hands-on checks. We verify signatures ourselves, compare published keys from more than one independent source, and record the date of every check. We publish the method we used, never a bare promise that something is trustworthy.
• Established research and reporting. Peer-reviewed security work, such as the USENIX literature on network privacy, and reputable journalism. When a claim rests on someone else's findings, we cite them.

A date sits next to anything time-sensitive, because a check is only as good as the day it was done. If we cannot verify a detail from one of these three sources, it does not go on the page.

Two things, mostly. First, verification notes: what we checked, how, and when. Second, guides — setting up Tor Browser, verifying a PGP signature, choosing between Monero and Bitcoin for privacy, and the operational-security habits that keep small mistakes from becoming large ones.

The guides are written for people who are not specialists but are willing to learn one careful habit at a time. They are meant to be read, not skimmed.

• We are not affiliated with, and do not speak for, any service we cover. The limits of what this information can promise are set out in the Disclaimer.

The work is written under a consistent byline, Admin, a security researcher. The name is a pseudonym by design: privacy research invites the occasional grudge, and a stable named identity serves readers better than a real-world one would serve the writer. What matters is that the same person stands behind every page, and that the method above is followed each time.
